The top of the helmet also sports a ribbon of white hair that hangs down to the small of the suit's back. The helmet that comprises Al's face is adorned with a large, conical horn in the middle of the forehead, has a pair of parallel, horizontal vents beneath each half-moon eye hole and a fang motif just above the protruding chin. He is also often mistaken for being the older brother or even Ed's father on occasion.

As such, a running gag in the series is that he is frequently mistaken for being the famous "Fullmetal Alchemist" (due to his full-armored steel body) in place of his brother - the rightful bearer of the title. In his gunmetal-colored steel armor body, Alphonse stands out as one of the tallest characters in the series, inching out such stalwart man-mountains as Captain Buccaneer and Major Armstrong while absolutely dwarfing his older brother, who only comes up to his elbow at the beginning of the series.

(A very gory scene.) Before he dies, he tells Al to transmute him to open the Gate so that Al can be reunited with Ed and Wrath can be reunited with the one he loves. When he learns about Al's quest to be reunited with his brother, he takes Al to the underground city and winds up fighting Gluttony and gets himself eaten. Later he lives with Al and Winry for a while. Winry finds him while she is visiting Izumi's grave.

In the movie he shows up shortly after Izumi's death. Wrath left without telling anyone where he was going. Wrath despises Izumi and truly thinks that Sloth is his mother. Wrath also gets a bit psychotic whenever the issue of his mother is brought up. When he was transformed he become very aggressive and violent. Wrath was a very sweet and innocent child at first. Wrath is now desperate to get all of Ed's body, thinking he will become human. Envy had given some of the incomplete Philosopher's Stone to Wrath and manipulated him. Wrath discovered his true nature thanks to Envy shortly after that. Izumi rescues Wrath from the examining room during the South Headquarters assault. Wrath now has Ed's limbs in place of his own. Wrath had been inside the Gate for a long time until Edward came by attempted to revive his mom (who later became Sloth), but instead lost his arm and leg saving Al. Wrath was created when Izumi attempted to revive her miscarried son. Wrath, unlike most of the other Homunculi, can do alchemy.
Wrath was instantly taken in by Izumi, who desperately tried to hide what he really was.
He was found on Yok Island where the Elric brothers had to stay during some of their training. Wrath is another Homunculus who actually believed he was human for a while.
